We repeat our shelf space analysis in which we assess the level of exposure retailers afford their private label products in terms of shelf space (‘shelf-share’) and provide commentary on the implications of our findings to food producers. We conducted our initial analysis in May 2018 which involved Pick n Pay (PIK), Checkers, Shoprite, and Spar stores (8 in total) within five popular food categories. Our latest survey includes more packaged food categories to broaden the scope of the analysis.
