Shamil Ismail

Shamil Ismail

CA(SA), CFA

Before founding Primaresearch, Shamil was the Head of Research at BNP Paribas Securities South Africa. He is a highly rated research analyst, and was rated first in Innovative Research in the 2017 Financial Mail Analyst of the Year rankings. He was also awarded the Absip Research Analyst of the Year in 2014. Shamil is a Chartered Accountant (SA) and a CFA charter holder. He has more than 25 years of work experience, of which the earlier part of his career was spent working at retailers including Woolworths and Clicks.

Craig Whittle

CA(SA)

Craig is responsible for business development and special projects. His experience spans asset management, where he was an analyst and portfolio manager, investor relations and industry, where he was the CFO of a JSE-listed small-cap company and the CFO of an unlisted pan-African consumer finance business with operations in Ghana, Kenya and Zambia. Craig is an experienced chartered accountant, having worked for PwC in London and Deloitte in South Africa.

Carlos joined Primaresearch in 2023 as a Consulting Equity Analyst and is a UCT senior lecturer in the College of Accounting. He has a MCOM in Finance and is currently completing a PhD in REIT capital structure.

Keegan Ferreira

Keegan joined Primaresearch in 2024 as an Intern Investment Analyst. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree specialising in Investment Management from the University of Stellenbosch, where he graduated cum laude. He similarly completed the necessary board exams to obtain the Certified Stockbroker (SA) designation, while also completing the mandatory JSE Registered Securities Trader Examination by SAIFM to execute equities trades on the JSE.
