With signs of increasing Covid-19 infection rates, we resume our weekly updates. We summarise key statistics on the spread of Covid-19 in South Africa. South Africa recorded 3 841 388 cumulative Covid-19 infections as at 8 May 2022 (+45 625 in the past week). New infections averaged 6 518 per day (7-day moving average, +38.9% w-w) in the last week, with a high of 9 757 on 5 May. The infection rate was 15.6% of cumulative tests on 8 May (15.5% on 1 May).
