MTN Group (MTN) 1H24 – Results Snapshot

Diluted HEPS of -256.0 cps (1H23: 254.0 cps).
Revenue declined by 19.8% y-y (1H23: +16.1% y-y).
Expenses decreased by 3.5% y-y while expense-to-sales increased from 56.9% to 68.5%.
OPM decreased to -5.0% (1H23: 12.8%).
EBITDA margin down to 15.0% (1H23: 30.1%).
No interim dividends (1H23: nil).
Cash generated from operating activities down 48.9% y-y to R15 964m.
Subscriber base increased 0.8% y-y to 288.0m, with active data subscribers up 9.2% y-y to 150.2m.
The Group’s financial performance was negatively impacted by the naira devaluation which drove higher operating and net finance costs for MTN Nigeria.
The results were further impacted by operational challenges faced in Sudan due to the ongoing conflict in the country.
