Despite losing some ground in the second half of the month, the rand was on average stronger in the month of August, averaging R13.78/USD compared to R14.42/USD in July. As a result, the petrol price is expected to drop by around 25c per litre next month, while that of diesel should fall by about 54c. Overall, our Consumer Watch for August shows positive data outweighing negative data for the second straight month.
